We are aware that there is an issue with spam bots registering here and not usually posting. Were working on getting this all cleaned up and preventing it in the future with various registration security methods.
For the time being, all registrations must be approved by an adminstrator before you can access the site.

We just ran through the latest registrations and deleted over 35 accounts, we will make sure this won't happen again.

Added some new security measures:
- Added IPS Spam Monitoring Service
- Added Question and Answer Trivia
- Added user email confirmation for new registrants
This should me then enough protection now and in the future. Admin approval has been disabled.

The CAPTCHA (similar to question/trivia) is probably the best way to catch out spam bots. Annoying as it can be having to go through this lengthy process of registering, those who are committed will take the time so it is worth it. The only thing to be careful of with admin approval is that you don't accidentally cancel someone's registration who may be a valid user. Besides that, all the added security should be a big improvement to catching spam bots and destroying them from AP's existence!

We had recaptcha installed but the bots managed to still bypass that. They shouldn't be able to get past the new measures however.

We have had a recent surge in human spammers adding promotional links to their signatures. Now you won't be able to add a signature until you reach 5 posts.
